Look at all 'em bills.

The man in charge of running the U.S. House of Representatives and shepherding his party's bills off to the Senate has passed a record number of bills... 5. He's literally only ever enacted 5 pieces of legislation. I don't know about you, but I thought someone with such an important role in the government would be better at governing.

And the new House Speaker is...

After a 22 day BINGO game for Speaker of the House, House Republicans finally united behind Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana. A widely unknown Member of Congress, who could be mistaken for a random tourist on a U.S. Capitol tour, Mike became the GOP's top contender after ousting Kevin McCarthy, nominating Steve Scalise, rejecting Jim Jordan, and rejecting Tom Emmer. All while approaching the debt ceiling deadline, nearly shutting down the U.S. government.

But on a serious note.

Behind his flaccid facade of governance lies a darker, more hateful man. Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House elected by the Republican Majority, goes beyond routine homophobia. Mike has a bejeweled history of bigotry and hatred toward LGBTQ+ people. He has called LGBTQ+ people "sinful", "destructive", and a "deviant group". He has compared being gay to being a pedophile. He actively opposes abolishing discrimination between heterosexuals and homosexuals saying that LGBTQ+ cannot be discriminated because they "are all capable of changing their abnormal lifestyles." When he chaired the Republican Study Committee, he published a a study criticizing Amazon for removing literature promoting conversion therapy.
